2. Roethlisberger wiped out on his motorcycle because he thought he heard Derek Anderson coming.

3. Art Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore in terror when Derek Anderson looked at him funny

4. Cincinnati Bengals don't get arrested. They surrender to authorities when they're afraid Derek Anderson might find them first.

5. Chad Johnson does not leap into Dawg Pounds. Chad Johnson only leaps away from Derek Anderson.

6. Jon Kitna recovers from concussions only when Derek Anderson allows it.

One day a fourth-grade teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up -- fireman, mechanic, businessman, salesman, doctor, lawyer, and so forth.

However, little Justin was being uncharacteristically quiet, so when the teacher prodded him about his father, he replied, "My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men and they put money in his underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he will go home with some guy and stay with him all night for money."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and then took little Justin aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?" .

"No," the boy said, "He plays for the "Browns" but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

And to think, Phil Savage came real close to getting run out of town. Fuck John Collins.

LeCharles Bentley, Joe Jurevicious, Kevin Shaffer, Dave Zastudil, Ted Washington ... Wow. Nice splash by our beloved Brownies. What a novel concept -- to improve the offensive line, you sign offensive linemen. That's why Butch Davis hasn't found a coaching job yet. Keep bumblin your way on the NFL Network, Butch.

And just when you thought they were done, they land Willie McGinest. It pays to have a coach who actually won several Super Bowls who was respected and loved by the players he coached like Romeo Crennel. You didn't see the ex-Cowboys or ex-Miami Hurricanes lining up to play for us when Butch was coach. Also, it's nice to steal one away from the "Genius" Belichick.

By the way Butch, there are some good players who played football in the state of Ohio. Florida isn't the only state where football is played. You ignored them, Savage embraced them. This is why the Browns will make the playoffs this year. You heard it here first.

Go Browns!!!

Took this from the NFL Tribe... just in case any of you aren't in it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Davis resigns as coach of Browns

CLEVELAND (Nov. 30, 2004) -- Beleaguered Cleveland Browns coach Butch Davis resigned Tuesday, leaving a last-place team with five games left in a sinking season filled with close losses and costly injuries.

The Browns (3-8) dropped their fifth straight game on Sunday, 58-48 at Cincinnati. The team went 24-36 and made the playoffs just once in Davis' four seasons as head coach.

Davis left with three years remaining on a contract worth about $12 million. It wasn't immediately clear if he agreed to a buyout.

Browns president John Collins was to speak about the move at an afternoon news conference, team spokeswoman Lisa Levine said.

Offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie or defensive coordinator Dave Campo is expected to take over as interim coach for the Browns, who host the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots on Sunday.

Campo coached the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons before being fired after the 2002 season. Robiskie was Washington's interim coach for three games in 2000.

Pressure had been mounting on Davis for weeks as the Browns' season crumbled with a score of injuries to key players and a handful of agonizing losses. The Browns, who are just 8-19 since the end of the 2002 season, have 13 players on injured reserve, including six starters.

The Browns continually came up short in tight during Davis' tenure, and this season was no different as the team lost three games by a total of 13 points.

In a statement, Davis said "intense pressure and scrutiny" made it necessary for he and the team to move in different directions.

"I accept responsibility for the mistakes that we have made," Davis said, "but it was my and my staff's intention to do everything we could to lay the foundation and build a team that could win a Super Bowl. I hope that some of my decisions we have made will be a part of a brighter future for the Browns organization.

"My future is clear for the moment. I have no immediate plans to stay in coaching."

Amid speculation last week that Davis was about to be fired, Collins said the coach would remain in place for the rest of the season -- unless he resigned.

Davis, who helped restore the University of Miami's program before joining the Browns in 2001, could be a candidate for the job opening at Florida.

In January, Browns owner Randy Lerner gave the 53-year-old Davis a two-year contract extension through 2007 and the added title of executive vice president, despite the club's 5-11 record in 2003.

Lerner felt pressured to keep Davis, thinking the coach was being courted by several college programs.

Davis took the Browns to the playoffs in 2002, their only postseason appearance since returning to the NFL in 1999. But the team endured more than its share of hard-luck losses; sustained an array of costly injuries; underwent a roster-cleaning salary-cap purge in 2003 and a yearlong quarterback controversy last season; and mourned the death of owner Al Lerner.

Davis was on Cleveland's sideline when Browns fans rioted by throwing thousands of bottles on the field in 2001 and when linebacker Dwayne Rudd threw his helmet in the 2002 opener, costing the Browns a victory.

On Monday, Davis recounted some of those moments.

"In four years," he said, "I have seen some of the most bizarre things."

Asked if he planned to stay with the Browns, Davis said, "Sure. Absolutely."

When he joined the Browns in 2001, Davis promised to lead Cleveland to the Super Bowl. But after a tenure marked by some poor drafting, he leaves far short of that goal, and the team doesn't seem any closer to a title than when Davis arrived.

Davis had total control of all football decisions with Cleveland. His power inside the organization grew when Dwight Clark, the team's director of football operations, resigned in 2002.

Some felt Davis pushed Clark out the door. After Cleveland's disappointing 2003 season, Lerner hired former Green Bay general manager Ron Wolf to assist Davis in assessing the team's roster and preparing for drafts. But Wolf, who rebuilt the Packers into Super Bowl champions, quit after just a few months.

Lerner intends to hire a general manager this winter to work with Cleveland's new coach.

Browns/Bengals Record Score (48 to 58)

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Kelly Holcomb threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns -- and lost.

Strange? Not as strange as those other numbers glowing on the scoreboard as Holcomb trudged off the field with his head down and more misery ahead.

Allen's Analysis

Browns at Bengals: How do you explain the offensive explosion in Cincy?

This game was unbelievable and it's extremely difficult to explain the offensive success of either team because there is no way these two teams should've been able to put up that many points. Neither squad is thought of as a great offensive team or even a potentially great offensive unit. Cincinnati definitely has the offensive components to put points on the board with QB Carson Palmer, RB Rudi Johnson and WR Chad Johnson but they've been inconsistent all season. Meanwhile, Cleveland has problems at receiver, running back and quarterback. So it was quite baffling to watch this game and these two teams put up touchdown after touchdown.

Eric Allen played cornerback for 14 NFL seasons with the Eagles, Saints and Raiders. He's a regular contributor to Insider.

Cincinnati 58, Cleveland 48.

Why does Butch Davis still coach the Browns? I can do a better job. I had the Browns in the Super Bowl 5 years straight and undefeated on Madden Football for the Xbox and Playstation give me a shot at calling plays. Jets 10 Browns 7

I also posted this at the NFL tribe but it's exactly how I feel.....

I'm becoming ashamed of being a Browns fan.

Between all the talk of Big Fatty Gerald Warren, Butch Davis and others to always finding a way to lose the games I am just getting freaking frustrated.

If they don't win the Pittspuke and Big Waste of Salary Cap Space doesn't have at least one sack then I think I'm going to scream.

These morons sure do talk a game but they are 3-5. Idiots.

Butch Davis needs to go and take his overpaid, underachieving 3rd pick of the draft with him.

1-5 in openers! Woohoo!

Seriously, good game by the Browns. Started slow but the defense played exceptionally well.

Also, Garcia is ten times the QB Couch or Holcomb could ever wish they could be.

Nice game.

Per the Akron Beacon Journal:

http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/sports/football/nfl/cleveland_browns/8296810.htm

Tense times

How is the relationship right now between Butch Davis and Tim Couch?

Here's an indication:

Couch showed up Monday for the team's off-season workout program. He figured he's still under contract and no matter where he plays next season, he needs to be in shape.

The Browns, though, want to trade Couch. And they know that if Couch gets hurt lifting weights or working out in the facility, they can't trade him and they'll have to pay him the $7.6 million his contract calls for him to earn.

Couch's arrival also made for a scene in which several of his teammates greeted him by saying they were sorry things didn't work out for him with the Browns.

So the team asked Couch not to work out in Berea anymore.

And you can imagine how that went over with Couch.

**************

This FO embarrasses the hell out of me. Hell, bring back Chris Palmer at this point.

I'm very curious what you guys think about the choice to sign on Garcia to the Browns. I am amazed with last years battle for the QB position. I've just not heard much of controversy conserning the Browns till this past year. Do you think we will be better this year? How much do you blame on Butch?
LMK your thoughts. I'm interested to discuss it. Thanks.
